How To Turn A Wet Wigton Weekend Into The Best Garden Party Ever! Just fold the bifold doors back, step onto the spectacular covered patio and let the kitchen and garden become one big social space. Not what you’d expect from a detached bungalow in a quiet hamlet. Did I mention the secret bar? Property ref: KD0516

Rain forecast this weekend? No need to change your plans. The superb stylish kitchen-diner opens straight onto a fabulous covered patio, so the party can carry on regardless and everyone stays dry.

The bifold doors fold right back from the kitchen-diner, and a roof lantern above the table fills the room with light. The patio canopy has a roof lantern of its own, so the light follows you outside.

There’s room for a big table by the bifolds, so Sunday lunch with the whole family works just as well as drinks with friends. The kitchen has a sleek, modern feel and whoever’s cooking never has to miss the conversation.

Then there’s the secret cupboard, which opens up to reveal a bar. It’s the detail people mention long after they’ve gone home.

Beyond the patio, a large lawn rolls out towards a greenhouse and vegetable beds, with a gazebo seating area further along. A red-leaved acer adds a splash of colour in autumn.

When the party winds down, the living room has a log burner and big windows looking out over open fields. Settle in with the fire and the view, and the evening takes a cosy turn.

The main bedroom has walkthrough wardrobes leading to an ensuite with a walk-in shower and an LED mirror. Open the blinds and it’s open fields again.

There’s another double bedroom and a gorgeous main bathroom with a walk in shower.

There’s a home office too, and a utility room with a bench seat and plenty of storage for coats and boots. There’s parking several cars on the driveway, along with a built-in single garage (sitting under the main accommodation).

Aikhead is a quiet hamlet that’s about a mile and a half from Wigton - less than 5 minutes in the car from the shops or the station. Country lanes and open fields start seconds from the door, so a run or a bike ride begins without getting in the car.

If you need to head into Carlisle, you can catch the train or drive to the city centre in under half an hour.

This is a modern single storey home made for entertaining, where the kitchen, covered patio and garden work as one big social space - whatever the weather is doing…

I’m expecting plenty of interest, so get in touch to arrange a viewing.
